The traces we leave behind and the history of patterns it creates
l
ed me to look at the work of poet John Clare who documents the
effect
of place and people when the enclosure acts (1800s) granted
local landowners permission to fence the open fields. In a series of
prints
entitled 'Where we once walked' I used separate plates to
represent
the division of land and linked the plates with thread to
acknowledge
the time when people worked and walked freely on
what was once
common land.

My latest prints explore ideas around the code breaking of writing
systems such as cuneiform (a system of writing on clay tablets first
developed by the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia) responding
to poet Jenny Lewis's reimagined version
of the Epic of Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh Retold published by Carcanet.
